The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) is envisioned with an objective to ensure economic prosperity for the country. A special purpose vehicle, Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) has been formulated to implement the DMIC projects.
With representations from the central government and financial institutions, under the Union Finance Minister and Chief Ministers of respective states, planning and necessary approvals are being sought for the DMIC project. With the responsibility of undertaking project development activity for government projects, DMICDC will also be supporting state governments in raising funds.
Funding for the DMIC project is expected to come from nodal agencies, through budgetary or extra-budgetary provisions, or Viability Gap Funding/Long term soft loans for Project SPVs.
The Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) is anticipated to benefit immensely from the implementation of the DMIC project. As economic opportunities continue to improve in the region, it is expected to pave the path for industrial development in the SIR. It will also add impetus to the Dholera smart city project, India’s first such project that aims to create a self-sustaining community equipped with world-class infrastructure and advanced amenities.
